According to the Hong Kong Information Center for Human Rights & Democracy (13 October), a Hong Kong-based fax service which reports on dissidence, a source close to Wang Lijun's lawyer has disclosed that Wang has left Chengdu and been escorted to the capital to serve his prison term in the Beijing Qincheng Prison, the only prison in China that is under the jurisdiction of the Public Security Ministry rather than the Ministry of Justice. The report states that senior offenders are jailed at the Qincheng Prison and are confined separately to prevent them from revealing secrets to others. The report adds that Wang was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment on 24 September and refused to appeal.
