China reportedly detains 32 for discussing bird flu via phone, internet

According to a report on 16 April by the Hong Kong Information Centre for Human Rights & Democracy, a Hong Kong-based fax service which reports on dissidence, from 7 to 16 April, the Chinese authorities have detained 32 people from 12 provinces, including Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, and Henan, for discussing suspected cases of H7N9 avian influenza via text messages and microblog. The centre calls on the authorities to release the detainees.
